The role

We are seeking a professional to join the City Works team as Coordinator Building & Facilities.  Reporting to the Team Leader Building Maintenance, your role is to:

  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day management of building services, equipment and technical infrastructure, including facility access, security, building safety, environmental hazards, or deficiencies, for Council owned buildings.
  • Provide technical expertise (incorporating any legislative obligations) for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of building infrastructure, including, but not limited to, lifts, HVAC, essential safety measures, security, lighting.
  • Develop, prepare and audit technical specifications and documents to enable the procurement of contractors to provide goods and services associated with operating and maintaining the facilities.
  • Project manage maintenance and modifications (electrical, carpentry, plumbing, decorative) activities and initiatives involving liaising with building occupants, property services, and external contractors for Council buildings. 
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and direction on the procurement of new equipment, equipment re-location and the continual assessment of older equipment to highlight risk factors and any replacement needs.
  • Provide support to the Manager of Property Services in the project management of internal fit outs and subsequent alterations arising from ongoing space management of each building 
  • Oversee inspections, checks and testing of equipment which are necessary to ensure that the buildings equipment is in proper working order and complies with the requirements of the equipment manual.
  • Oversee Building Maintenance Officers ensuring effective usage of Council buildings including supporting the handover of buildings between users.
  • On a rostered basis, participate in the City Works After Hours Response Team.

 

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Expertise and demonstrated experience in the principals of facilities management in local government or similar
  • Qualification in engineering or property related degree, a certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management or related discipline, any qualification related to HVAC, electrical systems, fire safety.  Any relevant experience in a similar facilities management / building maintenance role.

The salary for this position starts at $95,636 (Band 6) per annum plus superannuation.
