Join our team as a Swim Teacher

This role provides support across both Waves Leisure Centre and the new Mordi Aquatic Centre, during an exciting period of growth and expansion.

Offering a range of aquatic programs, including Learn to Swim lessons for approximately 2500 students each term. As part of our team of passionate aquatic educators, you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of programs, including school swimming, intensive swim programs, and inflatable sessions, with a range of shifts available to suit different schedules.

About the role

In this rewarding role, you'll help build confidence, develop lifelong water safety skills, and create positive experiences for learners of all ages and abilities. You'll deliver engaging and professional swimming instruction in a fun, safe, and supportive environment, helping make every lesson a highlight of the day.

Our Learn to Swim program operates across weekday afternoon, evenings and weekends 

To support consistency for our students, families and teaching team, successful applicants are expected to:

• Commit to a minimum of two consecutive terms of employment when accepting a regular teaching shift.
• Maintain reliable and consistent availability for their agreed shifts throughout the term.
• Understand that regular shift availability is an important part of providing continuity of learning.
• Be available to work across weekday afternoons, evenings and /or weekends, depending on program requirements.

What you’ll deliver                       

• Plan and deliver Learn to Swim classes for a range of age groups and abilities
• Assess students against the Swim and Survive curriculum
• Monitor learner progress and adapt teaching approaches to support ongoing development
• Provide outstanding customer service to students and their families.
• Share regular feedback with students and parents/carers to celebrate achievements and support progress
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for all participants

Your Skills and Experience

• A positive and engaging approach, with a passion for teaching swimming and water safety skills
• Ability to build rapport with children, families, and participants from diverse backgrounds
• Current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate (SISSS00132)
• Current Teacher of Infant and Pre-school Aquatics Certificate (SISCAQU027), or willingness to obtain
• Current CPR qualification
• Employee Working with Children's Check
• Experience planning and delivering effective swimming lessons, with the ability to undertake basic administrational duties in accordance with program requirements and procedures.
• Experience teaching participants across a range of ages and swimming abilities
