About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the built environment and contributing to the growth and development of our vibrant community.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Statutory Planning, your key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and reviewing a range of planning applications in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act and relevant policies
  • Providing expert planning advice and recommendations to applicants, stakeholders, and decision-makers
  • Representing Council at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) hearings and mediations
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of planning processes and procedures

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience in statutory planning processes and legislation
  • Strong critical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate the City of Kingston's values of making a difference, showing care and respect, taking pride in our work, and being better together
