The People & Culture team plays a vital role in nurturing our vibrant workforce and shaping an environment where every voice is valued. The Team Leader Health & Safety plays an important role in creating and maintaining an organisational culture that values the health and safety of all its employees. The position manages the implementation of the health and safety component of the People & Culture Strategy, the Child Safe Standards Strategy and the Workplace Health & Safety Plan in line with current legislation and organisational objectives.
The role
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to lead our dedicated team in promoting a safe, supportive workplace for all. Reporting to the Manager of People & Culture, you'll:
• Develop, implement and champion best-practice WHS strategies, policies and procedures
• Conduct risk assessments, investigations and provide expert advice
• Build effective relationships across the organisation to embed a proactive safety culture
• Lead and mentor the Health & Safety team, fostering professional growth

About you
We are looking for someone with:
• Proven leadership experience in a similar Health & Safety role, ideally in local government
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidelines
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
• Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline
You'll also demonstrate our values of making a difference, showing care and respect, taking pride in your work, and being better together.
