  • $83,421 – $96,065 per annum (dependent on experience) plus superannuation and applicable weekend penalty rates

About the role

The Senior Parking Enforcement Officer provides support, mentoring and guidance to Parking Enforcement Officers to support fair access to parking, promote community safety, and contribute to the effective use of parking spaces for all road users. The Senior Parking Enforcement Officer will have an on-road patrol presence, ensuring that there are enough resources to meet service expectations.  

The role reports to the Parking Enforcement Coordinator and operates both independently and as part of the Compliance & Amenity Team.

The role involves working across a range of locations within the municipality and contributes to Kingston’s accessibility and liveability objectives

Key responsibilities

  • Providing on-road patrol presence within the municipality, including the education and enforcement of the Road Safety Act and Regulations, the Local Government Act and other relevant legislation and Council services and policies, as required by this legislation.
  • Support the Parking Enforcement Coordinator in the delivery and continuous improvement and development of Parking Enforcement services.
  • Provide expert accurate and timely advice and information to residents and other Kingston community stakeholders, including responding to complaints and supporting Parking Enforcement Officers with complaint resolution.
  • Assess and respond to requests from customers and other Departments within Council to ensure that parking restrictions are up to Council’s standards.
  • Enhance motorist and pedestrian safety by reporting damage to parking equipment, parking signs and other road infrastructure.
  • Assist with the induction of new staff and training as required.
  • Attend court and give evidence, when necessary, in connection with parking enforcement duties.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary parking enforcement issues and relevant legislation.

Skills and experience required

  • Knowledge of all relevant Acts and Regulations, parking related Local Laws and Council Policies and the ability to interpret and apply as required.
  • Sound knowledge of the provision of regulatory services, investigation and enforcement functions. 
  • Ability to contribute to, service delivery plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
