About this opportunity

The City of Kingston delivers Supported Playgroups for preschool-aged children and their families. Through play-based learning, we support children’s development, strengthen family connections, build parenting confidence, and help families access community services and supports.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate Supported Playgroup sessions that support children's learning and development
• Create safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for children and families
• Build positive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds
• Encourage participation, connection, and community engagement
• Work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and service providers
• Provide family support, information, referrals, and in-home support as required

Your skills and experience

You are a relationship-focused professional with a passion for supporting children and families.

You will bring:

• A minimum Diploma in Children’s Services, Community Services, Social Work, or a related qualification
• Experience facilitating playgroups or working within early childhood education and care settings
• Strong skills in family engagement and relationship building
• Experience supporting vulnerable families using a strengths-based approach
• Knowledge of playgroup guidelines, industry standards, and best-practice approaches within the early years and family support sectors
• The ability to provide information, referrals, and practical support to families
