Acting as trusted advisors, the Procurement & Contracts team guide departments in navigating complex procurement processes, from low-value quotes to high-value tenders, while upholding transparency, compliance, and best practices. By managing contracts effectively and streamlining systems, we enable departments to focus on their core missions, confident that their procurement needs are handled with expertise and integrity. Together, we drive impactful outcomes that benefit our community.

About this opportunity:

We are seeking a Procurement Business Partner to provide expert advice and support on procurement policies and processes, empowering Council staff responsible for conducting sourcing and contract management activities to make sound procurement decisions. The role involves guiding stakeholders in the use of procurement tools and systems, enhancing organisational capabilities through training and development.

Other Responsibilities include:                          

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end procurement activities, including tender advertising, evaluation, contract assembly, and execution
  • Monitor supplier performance, pre-register suppliers, and implement contractor management plans
  • Develop, review, and support procurement policies, processes, and templates to ensure procedural and legislative compliance
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal business streams and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Procurement & Contracts Department on activities such as insurance and fleet management as required

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge and experience in procurement processes, including tenders, quotations, purchase orders, and contract management, including the use of Sourcing, Purchasing and Contract Management Systems and tools
  • Clear understanding of purchasing and contracting guidelines, including relevant aspects of the Local Government Act.
  • Excellent research, policy review, and interpretation skills to support outcomes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with senior leaders and staff.
  • Tertiary qualification in Procurement, supply chain commerce, business, procurement, law or other relevant field.
  • Proven experience in Procurement and Contract Management, encompassing the entire procurement lifecycle from project planning and tendering to contract implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex supplier arrangements and contracts, and high complexity, high value procurements.
