At Kingston Council, we pride ourselves on exceptional community service that makes a real difference. We're seeking an energetic Principal Recreation Planner to join our dynamic Active Kingston team and help shape the future of sport and recreation in our vibrant municipality.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Team Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in understanding the sport and recreation needs of the Kingston community to ensure Council responds to these needs in the planning, development and promotion of sport and recreation activities, and spaces.  The role will lead the development of strategic plans and policies to align Council's recreation and community facilities with service demand, ensuring a diverse and accessible range of activities and opportunities that enhance and strengthen community health and wellbeing for the Kingston community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Use specialist analytical skills to understand behaviours and motivations related to sport and recreation participation, including community profiling, demographic analysis, and demand forecasting.
  • Apply expert analytical and investigative skills to formulate policy options.
  • Manage innovative strategic planning, including master planning, policy reviews, needs and gap analysis, feasibility assessments, and prioritisation assessments.

To succeed, you'll need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in sport/recreation planning, community development or a related field (or extensive experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of sport, active recreation and planning principles
  • Exceptional project management capabilities
  • A knack for interpreting data and preparing high-quality reports
