      • Temporary Part-Time Library Officer (21 hours/week including weekends) – February to December 2026
      • $73,303 - 79,054 per annum (pro-rata), plus superannuation
      • Based in the Chelsea team, working across Chelsea, Dingley Village and Patterson Lakes libraries (other sites as required)

      Kingston Libraries operates eight public library branches, with major sites at Chelsea, Cheltenham, Parkdale and Clarinda, and minor sites at Westall, Dingley Village, Highett, and Patterson Lakes. We are a team of more than 90 staff servicing over 400,000 visitors each year and one million loans annually. 

      About the role

      Council is seeking a part-time library officer to join the Kingston Libraries team on a temporary basis (job share arrangement related to a graduated return from parental leave). You will be working 21hrs per week (Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays) with rostered weekend work in addition to this.

      Based at Chelsea Library you will also work across Dingley Village and Patterson Lakes libraries, plus other sites as required. Times and locations may alter according to service needs.

      Week 1:

      • Monday – 10:05am-1:35pm at Chelsea Library AND 1:35-6:05pm at Patterson Lakes Library (includes lunch break and travel time)
      • Thursday – 10:05am-6:05pm at Chelsea Library
      • Friday – 9am-5pm at Chelsea Library

      Week 2:

      • Monday – 9:35am-2:05pm at Dingley Village Library AND 2:05-5:35pm at Chelsea Library (includes lunch break and travel time)
      • Thursday – 9am-5pm at Chelsea Library
      • Friday – 9:35am-2:05pm at Patterson Lakes Library AND 2:05- 5:35pm at Chelsea Library (includes lunch break and travel time)

      Your role is to:

      • Represent Kingston Libraries as the face of our library service and perform customer service duties to meet and exceed the expectations of both customers and the team
      • Undertake rostered customer service shifts in a team environment across all library sites, including weekdays, weekends and evenings, performing a range of tasks that support customers and our community
      • Support and promote services, events and programs for literacy and digital literacy development across the Library Service
      • Assist and educate users on new and existing library facilities, collections, resources, technology and equipment
      • Undertake a range of administrative tasks to ensure that the libraries operate efficiently 

      Your Skills and Experience

      We are looking for someone who has:

      • Excellent customer service skills (library experience preferred)
      • Reader development and digital literacy support skills
      • Interest in new technologies and library applications
      • Experience delivering programs and events
      • Sound communication skills and positive, resilient team attitude for diverse customers and staff
      • A tertiary qualification (TAFE or University) – library certificates/diplomas highly regarded
      • A current Working with Children Check
      • The ability to move between sites efficiently as required
