      Kingston Libraries sits within the Arts, Events and Libraries Department and plays a vital role in strengthening community connection, learning, creativity and wellbeing. Our programming and engagement work is central to how our libraries support people across all life stages.

      This role leads a multi-disciplinary team delivering children’s, youth, adult and seniors programs, as well as media, marketing and engagement functions. As part of the Libraries leadership group, you will contribute to service-wide strategy, continuous improvement and the future direction of library services in Kingston.

      About this opportunity 

      We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Library Programming and Engagement to provide strategic oversight and delivery of contemporary library programs and activities.

      In this role, you will lead the design, transformation and evaluation of library programs using best-practice, human-centred design and co-design principles. You will ensure programs respond to community need, align with Council priorities, and support access, inclusion and lifelong learning.

      You will also play a key leadership role across the Libraries team and broader department, contributing to policy development, service planning, partnerships and innovation.

      What you’ll deliver                       

      • Strategic leadership of library programming and engagement across adults, older adults, children and young people
      • Design, delivery and evaluation of innovative programs that respond to community need using qualitative and quantitative data
      • Development of strong partnerships and community networks that expand learning and engagement opportunities
      • Oversight of marketing and promotion of programs, reading and library resources
      • Leadership, mentoring and support of a diverse team including coordinators and specialist roles
      • Contribution to service-wide policy, procedure and risk management related to programming and engagement
      • Budget management, financial accountability and identification of grant opportunities
      • Active collaboration across Libraries and the Arts, Events and Libraries Department to ensure a cohesive and consistent service approach

      What You’ll Bring

      • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering programs and events from concept through to delivery and evaluation
      • Strong understanding of human-centred design and co-design methodologies
      • Proven leadership and people management experience within a customer-focused service environment
      • Experience in budget management, monitoring expenditure and reporting
      • Strong stakeholder and partnership management skills across internal and external networks
      • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
      • A sound understanding of the public library sector or a closely related community service environment
      • Degree in librarianship, or
      • Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, event management or a related field
