The City of Kingston Library Service operates eight public library branches, with major sites at Chelsea, Cheltenham, Parkdale and Westall, and minor sites at Clarinda, Dingley Village, Highett, and Patterson Lakes.

The Role

The Library Officer Technology Support role is responsible for offering the provision of innovative and customer focused library services with a particular emphasis on the development, delivery and promotion of technology systems and online services.
This role undertakes a range of technical and administrative duties to support the relevant technology operating within the library service to the community.

We are seeking a self-motivated IT savvy individual to join the Kingston Libraries team. Reporting to the Library IT Coordinator, your role is to:

  • Undertake a range of administrative tasks to ensure Information Technologies at the branch libraries operates efficiently including self service technologies and equipment used to deliver library programs and services.
  • Represent Kingston Libraries by communicating with Library users and the community, performing circulation desk duties, and educating users on new and existing library facilities, technology and equipment in a manner that meets customer expectations.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and deliver improvements to Kingston Libraries technology, systems, processes, programming, and services.
  • Train staff to up skill on new technology.
  • Assist in administrative IT tasks including creating training documentation.
  • Have a passion and knowledge for technology to support library staff in offering an Exceptional Customer Service Experience – One that is accessible, supportive, and educational.
  • Undertake rostered customer service desk shifts including weekend and evenings, performing a range of tasks that support customers.

 

About you

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills – experience of customer service in a library environment preferred
  • Experience in working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated Skills in supporting technology in the community
  • Ability to problem solve and respond to IT issues to support staff 
  • A keen interest and curiosity in new technologies and their applications in libraries
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A positive, enthusiastic and resilient attitude for working with diverse customers and staff in a front-facing team environment
  • A passion for your community and the creation of safe, diverse, and inclusive spaces for people of all demographics
  • A current driver’s license and a reliable comprehensively insured motor vehicle (role requires you to move from one site to another during the day)
