Our Infrastructure team is responsible for maintaining and developing Kingston's vital community assets, working closely with developers and utility companies to ensure high-quality infrastructure delivery.
This role offers diverse exposure to infrastructure development, direct engagement with developers and stakeholders, and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement of Council's construction standards and asset management practices.

About the role

We are seeking an Asset Technical Officer to join our Infrastructure Team. Reporting to the Team Leader Roads & Drains, your role is to:

Responsibilities include

  • Work closely with private developers to minimise damage to Council infrastructure and supervise construction works to ensure Council inherits quality assets
  • Monitor minor capital works projects and conduct vehicle crossing inspections (preliminary, pre-pour and final)                                                                           
  • Review planning permit applications for compliance and administer permits for road opening, storm water connections and vehicle crossings
  • Supervise storm-water connections and collaborate with utility companies on major renewal projects
  • Assist in evaluating tenders, maintaining inspection records, and supporting contract administration

 Your Skills and Experience 

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or related field is desirable or considerable field experience in infrastructure development and maintenance
  • Ability to read engineering plans, specifications and prepare estimates for minor works and reinstatements
  • Sound communication and problem-solving skills for engaging with developers, utility companies and internal stakeholders
