About the team
 
City Works Building Maintenance make a difference for our community by maintaining our facilities and ensuring they are safe, presentable and inclusive. City Works "buildings team" are an operational based department within the City of Kingston, delivering maintenance on approximately 300 building assets and infrastructure. 

We are looking for a Building Programming Officer to join our team. In this role, you will assist in the delivery of scheduled/programmed maintenance, and minor capital works to Council building and associated infrastructure on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they are maintained and enhanced in accordance with agreed standards, practices and procedures, a rewarding role within a dynamic team.   

Other Responsibilities include

  • Assist with managing maintenance contracts and contractors to ensure that Council maintains appropriate service levels with approved standards, specifications, timeframes and budget.  
  • Create and deliver programmed schedules in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the management of contractors undertaking repairs and maintenance. 
  • Provide effective communication and ensure resolution of customer building maintenance requests within the Council’s CRM system 
  • Prepare scopes of work for minor works projects, obtain quotations in accordance with Council’s procurement guidelines and to prepare reports seeking management approval. 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop project scopes for minor maintenance projects, seek quotations, permits and financial approvals whilst coordinating the delivery of works on site. 

Your Skills and Experience

  • Trade experience preferred but not essential.  
  • The ability to manage time, set priorities and plan and organise one's own work and that of supervised contractors
  • The ability to organise a range of reactive maintenance works and contracts simultaneously, allocating time and resources appropriately to meet objectives. 
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver minor maintenance works projects 
  • Ability to support the implementation of change and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Experience in supervising contractors’ onsite performance and the ability to provide regular feedback
