About the team

The Drainage and Civil Maintenance team maintains Council’s drainage and civil infrastructure. The team delivers both planned and reactive maintenance works, working closely with internal crews, contractors and other Council areas to keep assets safe and operational.

About the role

The Drainage Maintenance Crew Leader supports the Coordinator Drainage Maintenance to coordinate day‑to‑day civil maintenance works.

You will provide on‑site support to a small internal crew delivering drainage and civil maintenance activities, while also working with contractors. The role includes coordinating tasks, maintaining Council equipment, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time and in line with Council procedures.

What you’ll deliver                          

In this role, you will:

  • Support the coordination of drainage and civil infrastructure maintenance works
  • Assist with planning and scheduling daily maintenance activities
  • Provide on‑site support to staff, including setting up work sites and traffic management
  • Respond to urgent and emergency maintenance requests
  • Record work details, outcomes and contractor performance in Council systems
  • Monitor contractor compliance with safety and work standards
  • Operate minor plant and equipment as required

Your Skills and Experience

To perform this role, you will need:

  • Experience or working knowledge of civil infrastructure maintenance
  • The ability to support and coordinate on‑site maintenance activities
  • Experience working safely in a civil maintenance or construction environment
  • The ability to record work activities using corporate or asset management systems
  • A valid Victorian driver’s licence with a minimum Medium Rigid (MR) endorsement, or willingness to obtain

You must hold, or be willing to obtain:

  • Level 2 First Aid
  • Construction Induction (White Card)
  • Level 1 Bridge Inspection
  • Traffic Management qualification
