The Open Space department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Sportsgrounds, Reserves, Playgrounds, Horticulture, Urban Forrest, Foreshore and Bushland assets within the municipality.

The role

We are seeking a Mowing Crew Leader to join the Sportsgrounds & Reserves Team. Reporting to Scott Mortimer (Sportsground Coordinator), your role is to:

  • Lead a small team of mowing operators, coordinating and delivering mowing and maintenance programs for open spaces
  • Actively participate in all operations, tasks and procedures associated with Open Space maintenance and presentation
  • Regularly inspect Open Spaces to identify areas in need of mowing, trimming, weed control or other maintenance activities
  • Identify the need for effective pest, weed and disease control in high profile open space sites, ensuring safe and appropriate controls are undertaken

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Leadership qualities and a 'can do' attitude 
  • Skills and experience in maintaining open space/turf surfaces
  • Competency in the safe operation of handheld and ride on mowing plant and equipment
  • Competency in the use of fertilisers and other turf related products
  • Ability to demonstrate the City of Kingston’s values of:
