About the Team 

The Vegetation & Compliance Team plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing Kingston’s urban landscape. We work collaboratively across departments to ensure tree protection, sustainable landscaping, and compliance with local laws and planning schemes.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Vegetation Management Officer to lead arboricultural assessments, manage the tree removal request process and support enforcement investigations, and provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders. This role is ideal for an experienced arborist.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Professional advice on arboricultural matters.
  • On-site tree assessments and implementation of tree protection measures.
  • Investigations into breaches of the Local Law and Planning Scheme.
  • Technical advice on landscape plans and development applications.
  • Maintenance of the Significant Tree Register and arboricultural records.
  • Leadership and support within the Vegetation Management Team.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Arboriculture (minimum AQF level 5).
  • Certification on Quantified Tree Risk Assessment is preferable.
  • Demonstrated experience in tree assessments, landscaping, and vegetation management.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience in enforcement procedures and evidence collection (desirable).
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members and contribute to process improvement.
