About the team 

Our Aquatic & Leisure Team is dedicated to providing safe, accessible, and engaging aquatic experiences for our diverse community, managing multiple facilities and programs that promote health, wellbeing, and social connection.

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Aquatics Coordinator to join our Aquatic & Leisure Team. Reporting to the Aquatics Coordinator, your role is to:
• Support the coordination and delivery of aquatic programs, including swimming lessons, water safety initiatives, and community events
• Assist in facility operations management, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Collaborate with team members to develop inclusive programming that meets diverse community needs
• Provide exceptional customer service and support to facility users and program participants 

Other Responsibilities include                        

  • Assist the Coordinator to promote and deliver aquatic programs and services targeted at improving health and wellbeing outcomes, increasing aquatic skills and experience and maximising opportunities for fun and recreation 
  • Deliver excellent customer service and experiences, encouraging good communication and engagement in accordance with centre policies and processes   
  • Maintain an awareness of industry trends and community demand that may impact aquatic facilities, programs and services
  • Maintain good administrative systems and processes to support to delivery of aquatic facilities programs and services
  • Assist in the coordination of community education programs in conjunction with appropriate Council departments

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in aquatic operations, recreation programming, or customer service environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage diverse community members
• Knowledge of pool operations, safety procedures, and relevant regulations (training provided)
• Relevant qualifications in aquatics, recreation, or related field (or willingness to obtain)

  • Relevant experience in the supervision and delivery of aquatic programs and services.
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate and AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant & Preschool Aquatics Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 first aid and CPR certificate
  • A tertiary qualification is desirable
