About the team

Kingston Libraries spans 80+ staff, 8 branches, 376 hours of weekly service delivery, a million annual loans, over 2,000 programs/events and almost 400,000 visitors annually. There are three branch coordinators within the library leadership team – each responsible for 2-3 branches.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Branch Coordinator to join Kingston Libraries and lead the Parkdale team, with responsibility for Parkdale, Clarinda and Westall libraries. The Branch Coordinator role coordinates day-to-day high quality, customer-focused library services across multiple sites, with a strong emphasis on leadership, information services, reader development, digital inclusion and community engagement.

This is a leadership role responsible for supporting staff, allocating tasks, daily branch rosters, responding to complex customer behaviour (including de-escalation), and ensuring safe, welcoming and functional library environments.

The position works within Council policies and procedures and contributes to continuous improvement aligned to Kingston Libraries service standards and strategic direction. This is a band 6, full-time role (35hrs per week), including one evening shift a fortnight, and additional weekend shifts (1 in 4 Saturdays and 1 in 8 Sundays).

Other Responsibilities include:       

  • Leading a team of people to deliver high quality information and customer service across multiple sites
  • Coordination of library operations and services across multiple sites, including customer service shifts
  • Community engagement and program delivery to promote services and collections
  • Contribution to service development and improvement

Your Skills and Experience 

  • Professional library and information services qualification (eligible for Associate membership of ALIA) and experience working as a librarian including reader advisory, digital literacy, collection management, and programs.
  • Experience working in and leading diverse teams across multiple sites 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across multiple sites and teams to achieve collective goals
