  • $69,181 - $73,600 per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation, dependent on experience

About us

The Open Space department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Sportsgrounds, Reserves, Playgrounds, Horticulture, Urban Forrest, Foreshore and Bushland assets within the municipality. 

The Horticulture team is responsible for creating and maintaining garden beds and vegetation within council reserves, roadsides, shopfronts, council buildings and sports grounds.

About the role

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Horticulturalist to join our Horticulture Team on a part‑time basis for a fixed term of three years.
Reporting to the Horticulture Crew Leader, your role is to
  •  Support your Crew Leader and team in maintaining Kingston's open space garden beds
  •  Help foster an environment that encourages open communication, sharing of ideas and feedback
  •  Perform horticultural tasks such as planting, mulching, pruning, weeding and feeding
  •  Carry out tasks with safe and efficient use of hand tools and various machinery  
  •  Communicate effectively within the team to undertake scheduled and reactive works

Your Skills and Experience

  • Certificate 3 Horticulture desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated expertise in relationship development and effective communication
  • Strong enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge and continuous learning
  • The desire to improve and maintain open spaces for the benefit of the community
