  • Help us shape the future of Councils Bushlands and Foreshore vegetation by playing a key role in the propagation of indigenous species.
  • Work Type: Full time – permanent
  • Band 4, $76,383.91 - $81,228.08 per annum plus superannuation (dependant on experience)
  • Location:  Bonbeach Depot.

About the team

Councils Open Space team has in excess of 400 sites, and the Bushland and Foreshore Team manage 20 sites equalling approx. 80h sites for biodiversity values. The Nursery Conservation officers works autonomously, coordinates and supervises volunteers; and guides conservation officers with team propagation requirements.

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate Nursery Conservation Officer to join our team. The role plays a key part in nursery operations inc. the coordination of community/school groups.

Other Responsibilities include

  • Bring your passion for conservation
  • Responsible for reviewing, developing and the implementation of nursery management maintenance, propagation and council ‘free plant’ programs.
  • Provide indigenous nursery conservation education.
  • Coordinate and supervise nursery volunteer groups, school groups and other community groups/individuals undertaking volunteering in the nursery.
  • Undertake a broad range of nursery maintenance and development tasks in accordance with agreed standards, practices, and procedures

Your Skills and Experience

  • Qualification and/or demonstrated experience in nursery management/Conservation & Land Management or related tasks.
  • Experience in conservation and/or indigenous plant nursery education.
  • Knowledge of equipment, methods, procedures, and practices associated with nursery maintenance and development.
  • Good Ecological Vegetation Class, indigenous plant propagation and ID skills.
  • Ability to share knowledge and provide guidance to other employees
