About the team
 
Kingston's Governance, Risk & Integrity department and plays a critical role in supporting Council’s commitment to best-practice governance, integrity, accountability, and compliance.
 
The Organisational Governance team partners closely with people across the organisation to ensure statutory obligations are met, risks are effectively managed, and a strong culture of transparency and continuous improvement is embedded.

About the role

We are looking for an Organisational Governance Officer to join our team on a temporary basis covering a period of Long Service Leave. In this role, you will support the delivery of governance, integrity and compliance programs, provide expert advice to the organisation, and contribute to continuous improvement of governance frameworks and practices.

Responsibilities include:                        

  • Coordinating and maintaining key governance programs including conflict of interest processes, gifts and hospitality registers, and integrity frameworks
  • Providing advice and support to staff and senior leaders on governance, compliance, and statutory obligations
  • Monitoring, analysing, and responding to compliance matters, including incidents and integrity agency enquiries
  • Supporting policy development, reporting to leadership and committees, and delivering training and awareness initiatives

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of governance, compliance, or integrity frameworks within a complex organisation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and provide clear advice
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline (or substantial relevant experience)
  • Experience in governance, risk, compliance, or a related function within local government or a similar environment
