  • Permanent part time, Monday 8am – 3.30pm, Tuesday and Wednesday’s 9am – 2pm
  • Edithvale location
  • Band 3 - $67,101 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation

The role:

The Centre Cook plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations of our kitchen spaces within our Edithvale Family and Children’s Centre. The Centre Cooks are the heart of the service providing nutritional balance children’s meals and a high level of kitchen compliancy.

The role involves:

  • Cooking morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for 100 children
  • Provide personalised meals to support children with allergies, intolerances, cultural diversity and preferences
  • Maintaining a high level of compliance in the kitchen space, adhering to a class one kitchen food safety program
  • Ordering stock to support fortnightly rotational menus
  • Collaborate with the greater kitchen team to create nutritional seasonal menus
  • Maintain a high standard of cleaning in the kitchen space
  • Provide flexibility in movement to support other kitchen teams on different sites
  • Support educators in delivering cooking experiences for the children

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be passionate about cooking and nutrition
  • Contribute positively to the team culture
  • Understand the expectations of a class one kitchen environment 
  • Have extensive knowledge on allergies and intolerances
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with children and their families.
  • Have a passion for children’s nutrition
  • Qualification of Certificate 3 in commercial cookery desired
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate including: Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management and CPR Certificate
