We employ over 1,500 people in a diverse range of roles including engineering, customer service, administration, finance, family, youth and children's services, sport and recreation, health, parks and gardens, planning, arts, and management.

Working in the Organisation Equity and Inclusion team within the People & Culture department, this role will be instrumental to supporting workplace inclusion through supporting our staff networks and committees to celebrate key awareness days and support evaluation reporting on our Workplace Gender Auditing.

The role

We are seeking an Organisational Equity and Inclusion Officer to join the Organisational Equity and Inclusion team. Reporting to the Organisational Equity and Inclusion Team Leader, your role is to:

  • Support the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives as part of the Organisational Equity and Inclusion Plan.
  • Support in building awareness and understanding across Council of diversity and inclusion practice and the Organisational Equity and Inclusion Plan.
  • Support the inclusion networks and committees and support the ongoing administrative requirements of these groups.
  • Lead and coordinate the collection and meaningful use of data as part of the Workplace Gender Equality Audit.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders when developing and implementing the Gender Equality Act across Council.
  • Independently manage the reporting requirements of the Gender Equality Act and working collaboratively with teams to support the collection of this data.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications or substantial relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding or interest in workplace inclusion and diversity, with proven capacity to effectively deliver strategies and programs that are targeted and responsive.
  • Proven experience identifying, developing and maintaining relationships for defined outcomes with a wide range of partners, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective planning, high level admin, and project management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate the City of Kingston’s values of:
    We make a difference
    We show care and respect
We take pride in our work
    We are better together

What we can offer

As an employee of the Kingston City Council, you will be part of an inclusive culture and have access to ongoing professional development and a range of employee benefits designed to promote a positive work/life balance including flexible working arrangements, wellbeing initiatives, discounted gym membership, social club events, paid parental leave, salary packaging, study/development assistance, employee assistance program (EAP) and discounted health insurance.  Full time employees also have access to a planned day off every four weeks.

Applications are encouraged from all sectors of the community, and we strongly encourage applications from the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community. We support adjustments throughout the recruitment and selection process, as well as during employment.
