The Open Space department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Sportsgrounds, Reserves, Playgrounds, Horticulture, Urban Forrest, Foreshore and Bushland assets within the municipality. Within the Open Space department, the Horticulture team is responsible for creating and maintaining garden beds and vegetation within council reserves, roadsides, shopfronts, council buildings and sports grounds.

The role

We are seeking an Open Space professional to join the Horticulture Team. Reporting to the Team Leader of Horticulture, your role is to:

  • Oversee Horticulture maintenance within Kingston's Open Space
  • Help deliver and coordinate projects alongside Horticulture crews and various Open Space teams
  • Lead the triaging of customer requests, ensuring customer responsiveness whilst maintaining a high work standard
  • Assist with the management of contractors, undertaking regular performance and OH&S audits, ensuring accurate quality assurance records
  • Lead and motivate by ensuring you provide a collaborative and supportive environment, with an emphasis on a positive workplace culture
  • Establish a culture of open communication to encourage the expression of ideas
