About the team

Our Reserves team takes pride in keeping our community’s open spaces welcoming, clean, and safe for everyone. We work hands-on across parks, playgrounds, and shared spaces, maintaining high standards and a positive team culture built on respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

A bit about the role

As the Reserve Response Crew Leader, you’ll lead a small team that ensures our reserves are well maintained, accessible, and looking their best. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll plan and carry out maintenance work, manage priorities, and support your team’s development. You’ll also assist with minor projects, contractor audits, and provide expert maintenance advice to help deliver great outcomes for the community.

Other Responsibilities include                         

  • Lead, guide, and motivate your team to maintain open space assets to high standards.
  • Carry out and coordinate maintenance tasks such as repairs, painting, litter collection, graffiti removal, and landscaping.
  • Support the Reserves Coordinator in scheduling, reporting, and planning programmed works.
  • Coach and train team members to grow their capabilities, knowledge and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with other Council teams and external stakeholders to deliver excellent service.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification, or extensive experience in open space or asset maintenance.
  • Skilled in garden, turf, or building maintenance with strong hands-on ability.
  • Experience in using a range of plant, equipment, and tools, including backhoes, skid steers, tractors, and excavators (preferred).
  • Minimum manual MR license (preferred).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate a team.
  • Sound communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
