About the team

Step into a hands-on role with a passionate team committed to delivering top-quality playing surfaces for the Kingston community. With over 55 natural turf sportsgrounds spanning 78 hectares to maintain, this role offers variety, challenge, and the opportunity to be part of something that’s always evolving. About the role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to lead and support our Turf Maintenance team in delivering high-quality playing surfaces and open space maintenance. You'll supervise a small team of Turf Maintenance Officers, hands-on support, coaching, and daily direction to get maintenance tasks done efficiently and safely.

Working with the Sportsground Coordinator, you'll contribute to the planning and scheduling of turf maintenance works, seasonal renovations, and special projects. You'll also liaise with contractors, monitoring work standards, and ensuring all maintenance activities are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

What you’ll deliver 

  • Lead and support the Turf Maintenance team, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and monitor progress to meet service targets.
  • Help develop maintenance schedules with the Sportsground Coordinator.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Support sportsground upgrades and turf improvement projects.
  • Maintain high standards of turf quality, safety, and presentation

What You’ll Bring

  • Sound knowledge of modern sportsground maintenance principals
  • Familiarity with sportsground standards, compliance and guidelines
  • Experience operating and maintaining turf maintenance equipment
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a small team in an outdoor, hands-on work environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to allocate tasks and prioritise work efficiently
  • Ability to assist in the coordination and monitoring of contractors for projects like turf renovations

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or previous leadership experience in a hands-on role within the Sports Turf industry.
  • Current Driver’s License (essential).
  • ChemCert or other relevant tickets (advantageous).
