About the team:

The Civil Maintenance team is a part of the City of Kingston City Works Department, which is responsible for maintaining Civil Infrastructure throughout the municipality. This includes an extensive network of Roads Footpaths and Drainage assets which require both reactive and proactive maintenance to ensure the safety and enjoyment of Kingston’s residents.

About the role:

We are seeking applicants to join the Civil Maintenance Team in the role of Road Maintenance Operations Officer, commencing from the 1st of July 2026.

The role of the Road Maintenance Operations Officer is to supervise the team’s service contracts and coordinating civil maintenance activities by contractors.

This position is accountable for assisting in the management of civil asset service contracts, proactive maintenance programs and non-routine work within the municipality to ensure civil infrastructure assets are maintained effectively. 

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with managing civil infrastructure maintenance related contracts to ensure that Council maintains appropriate service levels within approved standards and specifications, timeframes and budget.
  • Assisting in managing and establishment of the teams’ service contracts, ensuring targets are met in a timely manner and within budget allocation with guidance from the Team Leader.
  • Ensure that contractors are aware of and comply with all relevant policies, principles and legal requirements.
  • Ensure that contractors are fully informed and resourced to carry out the tasks required and that all work undertaken meets Health and Safety requirements.

 Your Skills and Experience

  • Thorough understanding of general municipal maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of civil construction and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated skills to supervise and report on contractor performance and provide regular feedback.
  • Completion of a degree or diploma with little relevant work experience or relevant experience in Civil Construction and/or Maintenance.
