Reporting directly to the Manager Information & Digital Technology, you’ll lead a team responsible for the operational delivery of Council’s technology infrastructure, networks, workplace technology and IT support functions.

As our Head of Technology Operations & Infrastructure, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day operations across infrastructure, cloud services, networks, workplace technology, and the IT Service Desk.
  • Deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing technology services that support staff across all Council locations.
  • Champion service excellence by applying ITIL-aligned practices in incident response, change control, and problem management.
  • Oversee structured change processes that minimise risk and ensure accountability across all technology environments.
  • Contribute to strategic planning by aligning operational capability with Council’s technology direction and organisational needs.
  • Support the successful transition of new projects into steady-state operations, including documentation, training, and service readiness.
  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and high performance.
  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring strong service delivery, contract compliance, and value for money.

About you

You bring extensive experience leading operational technology functions in complex or customer-focused environments, and you're ready to take the next step in shaping how technology supports a modern local government.

With a strong background in IT service management, infrastructure operations and cloud-based technologies, you understand how to balance performance, security and user experience.

You are a confident people leader, able to guide multidisciplinary teams and coach others to build capability and deliver results. You know how to implement governance frameworks and risk controls that improve reliability, and you’re comfortable managing vendors, budgets and service expectations.

You also understand the importance of working collaboratively across departments and translating complex technical issues into practical solutions for diverse stakeholders.
