About the team

The Financial Accounting team is responsible for managing the monthly and yearly financial accounts, collection of debtor invoicing within the municipality. This involves a range of activities including recording and reconciling general ledgers, liaising with auditors and tax compliance.

We are seeking a skilled Finance Officer to manage invoice processing, payments, receipting, and support key financial reconciliation functions.

What you’ll deliver:                          

  • Accurately receive, review, and process invoices, ensuring all details meet internal and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with staff and suppliers to obtain and verify invoice authorisation and facilitate on-time payments.
  • Monitor compliance with GST and other ATO requirements, reporting any discrepancies and ensuring proper record-keeping.
  • Manage electronic and cheque payments, process receipts, update direct debits, and assist with financial reconciliations.
  • Provide professional and timely follow-up for outstanding payments, prepare unclaimed monies registers, and support legislative reporting.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in processing financial transactions, ideally in a customer liaison or service environment.
  • At least a secondary qualification, or equivalent knowledge and skills developed through on-the-job training.
  • High attention to detail with proven accuracy and compliance in financial processes
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
