About the role

Join Kingston Council’s Strategic Communications and Engagement team and make a real difference by connecting our community with Council services and programs.  

These roles are perfect for a creative, organised communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves variety, great comms and community engagement. 

Following team growth and an exciting restructure - including two internal appointments to the new Comms and Engagement Lead roles - we’re advertising two Communications and Engagement Advisor roles.

What you’ll do: 

You’ll work across Council departments to deliver engaging communications and community consultation activities. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Communicate with impact: Develop comms and engagement plans, campaigns, digital content and promotional materials that connect with our community. 
  • Advise and collaborate: Provide strategic communications advice to all levels of the organisation to ensure consistent and timely messaging. 
  • Spot and solve issues: Identify risks to Council’s brand and reputation, and provide smart, timely advice. 
  • Project support: Work with Council teams to plan and implement communications strategies for major projects and initiatives. 
  • Content oversight: Coordinate messaging across channels to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with Council priorities. 

What You’ll Bring

You’re a collaborative, adaptable communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, PR, Journalism, or related field. 
  • Experience in communications, engagement, or PR roles. 
  • Strong writing, editing, and digital content skills. 
  • Excellent relationship-building, organisation, and time-management skills.
