  • $83,421 - $96,065 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation (dependent on experience)
  • Location:  Patterson Lakes Community Centre

Council-operated Community Centres and Hubs are vibrant, multi-purpose facilities that bring people together. Operated by the City of Kingston, our centres provide welcoming spaces where individuals and community groups can connect, learn, participate in recreational activities, celebrate special occasions, and access a range of co-located community services.

About this opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Community Support Officer to join our team. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, supporting community programs and events, and helping create safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces that encourage community connection and participation.

What You'll Deliver

  • Provide a high standard of customer service to community members, hirers, visitors and stakeholders.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the community centre.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of community programs, events and activities.
  • Build positive relationships with community groups, service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe, welcoming and well-presented facilities for all users.
  • Undertake a range of administrative functions, including maintaining promotional collateral, preparing newsletters and activity guides, developing community communications, and ensuring information and resources are accurate, current and accessible.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service in a community, local government or similar environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating events, programs or community activities.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Post-secondary qualification in Community Development, Community Services, Community Sector Management or a related discipline (highly desirable).
