The role

As Social Media Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our online presence and bringing our brand to life. Working closely with the Social Media Advisor, you’ll help manage Council’s social media channels, create engaging content, and contribute to the development and delivery of digital campaigns that inform, inspire and connect.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Creating, scheduling and monitoring content across Council's social media and web platforms.
  • Engaging with our community and providing timely, thoughtful responses.
  • Supporting internal teams with digital advice and best practice.
  • Filming and editing short-form videos that capture local stories.
  • Supporting digital communications across Council's websites, intranet and online forms.
  • Assisting at major festivals and events to deliver on-the-ground social media coverage.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll work in a supportive team that values creativity, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About you

You're a confident communicator and creative storyteller with a passion for social media and community connection. You understand what makes digital content engaging and know how to adapt tone and style across different channels.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience creating and publishing content for social media, websites or digital platforms.
  • Skills in filming, photography or video editing (short-form content experience highly regarded).
  • The ability to research and retain information, manage multiple priorities and deliver on deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience administering websites, intranets and forms.
  • An eye for detail, curiosity for analytics and enthusiasm for continual learning.
